The Pastry War

The Pastry War

Atmosphere & Drinks

The Pastry War is a cantina style bar devoted to mescal and tequila. Inside you’ll find pool tables, deep booths, light bulbs hanging from strings, and exposed wood and brick walls that make this place look like an indoor patio. If you’re into tequila this is the place to be. Pastry War offers small batch tequila and mezcal in 1/4 and 1 1/2 oz pours. Although these servings are small, it encourages people to try different things at a moderate price – overall a great idea. However, some have criticized this place for being a bit snobby. For example, they don’t serve the common stuff – Don Julio, Jose Cuervo and many others are excluded from their inventory.

What’s up with the name?

Find a time machine and go back to 1838–39, it’s the French-Mexican war and it was triggered by a Mexico City mob trashing a Frenchman’s patisserie!
